St Petersburg, part three

Here are some photos taken at the Hermitage. I tried to capture the sense of opulence of the interiors, but don’t think I quite did it. More than once I had to shut my mouth, because I found my jaw had dropped. There were so many rooms, each one a wonder of indulgent extravagance. So that’s opulent, indulgent, and extravagant. Those are the words I want. The Romanovs were rich.

And that’s it. That’s what I did in St Petersburg for two days. For other photos of St Petersburg, see part one and part two.

  1. Amazing!

  2. I thought hermits were supposed to renounce worldly goods? Opulent I think is the best word. That looks amazing.

  3. Yes, they ought to call it the gazillionaire reclusage.
