Thurber’s New Natural History

James Thurber‘s New Natural History was first published as a series in the New Yorker in 1945 and 1946. Like most of Thurber’s cartoons, these rely as much on their wordplay, and the delightful association of ideas going on one step beyond the frame, as they do on the silliness of the drawings themselves. Here are a few of the cartoons from the series.
