Mohamad Hafez’s Suitcase Art
The 2017 exhibition Unpacked: Refugee Baggage by artist Mohamad Hafez and writer Ahmed Badr created suitcase miniatures of lost homes and neighborhoods remembered by refugees. Each piece was displayed with a photo of the people whose memory it portrayed and a recording of them talking about the place they had left behind.

The stories at the link are vivid. I wonder if I would have the nerve to leave home, not knowing where I’m going, just knowing that I can’t stay. This is an interesting exhibit.
