Roger Sterling’s Memoir to be Reissued

Good news for fans of manly wisdom. Sterling’s Gold: Wit and Wisdom of an Ad Man, Roger Sterling’s memoir of a life in advertising, has been reissued by Grove/Atlantic after decades out of print. This priceless collection is full of such pithy pearls as:

Being with a client is like being in a marriage. Sometimes you get into it for the wrong reasons and eventually they hit you in the face.

When a man gets to a point in his life when his name’s on the building, he can get an unnatural sense of entitlement.

Remember, when God closes a door, he opens a dress.

  1. That last quote is pretty scary.

  2. Roger Sterling is a creepy guy. But lovable.

  3. He’s strangely childish. I love that show.
