Letters to Radio Azadi
The Library of Congress has an exhibit of recently donated letters, sent from Afghanis to their local Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty station, known as Radio Azadi. Many of the letters the station receives include proverbs and poems, and are often illustrated in a traditional epistolary style, sometimes by hand, sometimes using a computer.

Letter from a prisoner
...I listen to all your programs almost daily, and find them very interesting. Until now, however, Radio Azadi has never invited an Afghan official, minister or senator to discuss the problems of Afghan prisoners in Pakistani jails. I kindly request that Radio Azadi inform Afghan officials of our plight and convey our message to them.
Finally, I request a song by Sarfaraz.

The exhibit, titled Voices from Afghanistan, is open at the Library of Congress until May 8. There are more letters and translated excerpts at the exhibit web site.
