Former Guantanamo Detainee Describes Ordeal

An interview with Lakdhar Boumediene, a Red Cross/Red Crescent worker who was arrested in Bosnia as a suspect in a plot to blow up an embassy, acquitted of any wrongdoing, then held in Guantanamo for 7 years. He was released in May, 2009.

Boumediene was a plaintiff in the suit that reaffirmed the right of habeas corpus to all U.S. prisoners – a right yet to be upheld for those still held without charges. Here he is interviewed shortly after his release.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

More information about Boumediene is also available on France24 television.
