When To Give Up on a Book
I was just listening to Nancy Pearl, the radio librarian, who gave this advice about when to give up on a book you’re not enjoying:
1. If you are 50 years old or younger, give the book at least 50 pages. If after 50 pages the book still isn’t grabbing you, read no further. Life is too short.
2. For each year over 50, subtract a page from the number you’ll read before you reject a book. When you reach the age of 100, you may judge a book by its cover.
Excellent advice, no?
