Moody Blues: Never Comes the Day
The corny theatricality of the Moody Blues‘ albums isn’t everybody’s cup of tea (although I confess I sometimes find it fun), but it’s easy to forget that in their heyday they were a great pop band with tons of catchy tunes and their own unusual sound, combining electronic vocal effects and orchestral backup. I saw them in Seattle in the 80s, and it was one of the funnest concerts I’ve ever been to.
Here’s one of my favorite Moody Blues songs, Never Comes the Day, one of their simpler arrangements.

I like it when I listen back to something I was crazy about at age 14 and discover that yes, they were good weren’t they.
