The World in Words

thai_king_queenI’ve been enjoying the PRI podcast The World in Words lately. It’s connected to The World radio show, and highlights things that come up in the show’s production that have to do with language.

They’ve talked about what it was that Hillary Clinton actually said in Indonesian on her recent diplomatic trip there, President Sarkozy’s “bushisms”, Benicio del Toro’s dialect acting for the film Che, and lots of other interesting language-related stuff.

The most recent episode discusses why you shouldn’t criticize Thai royalty, silly British pub names, and Obama’s pirate talk (or are they privateers?). The show is about fifteen minutes long.
