For Martin Luther King Day, Rick and I went downtown to watch a drill team performance, joined the annual MLK march, listened to some speeches, then popped into the neighborhood pub to watch the happenings in the other Washington on their cable TV. All in all a good day.

  1. What’s a drill team performance? The children’s costumes, especially the red and white ones, make me think they should be carrying sousaphones and glockenspiels during halftime.

  2. A drill team is a traditional dancing group found in many (probably most) highschools in the U.S. As you can see, there are groups for younger kids, too. You probably have something similar in Canada, and just call it something else.
