The First President Bush Weeps
In a recent interview on Fox News the elder President Bush choked up as he remembered how humanely U.S. Troops treated enemy captives during the first Gulf War, and defended the wisdom of the withdrawal from that conflict when the coalition mission had been accomplished.
Here’s what Mr. Bush had to say:
My favorite picture is a picture of American soldiers surrounding a guy whose been in a foxhole, Iraqi soldier, and the American guy says, “We’re not going to harm you, we’re American soldiers,” (fights back tears)… See, that side of the war never got — the fact that we treated those people with respect in spite of the fact they were the enemy, it’s really good.
