Vacation

I wrote a little while ago about the lack of paid vacation in the United States. According to the American Prospect, 25 percent of American workers had no paid vacation in 2006, and 43 percent took less than a week off. This is not the case for our beloved president, though. He gets lots of paid vacation.

There’s a worthy organization called Take Back Your Time that is fighting for a minimum legal standard for paid vacation for Americans. I got this nifty graphic from their website.

I am not quite so unlucky as many. Since I’m self-employed at the moment I’ll be taking next week off — unpaid, of course. But I’ll be back chawing the rosin before you can say Bob’s your uncle. See you then.
