Pie in the Sky

Here is a documentary clip that tells the story of the old IWW (Wobbly) song “Pie in the Sky”. It’s sung to the tune of the hymn “In the Sweet Bye and Bye”, and is a clever adaptation of both the rhymes and the message of the song. I found the video at the YouTube channel OttOmOlOtOv, where you’ll find lots of interesting historical footage about the history of anarchism and the early days of the American labor movement.

For a fun post about the song, look at the British World Wide Words pages.

One Response to “Pie in the Sky”

  1. That’s fantastic, I’d never have guessed that “pie in the sky” has such a pungent origin.
