St Petersburg, part three
Here are some photos taken at the Hermitage. I tried to capture the sense of opulence of the interiors, but don’t think I quite did it. More than once I had to shut my mouth, because I found my jaw had dropped. There were so many rooms, each one a wonder of indulgent extravagance. So that’s opulent, indulgent, and extravagant. Those are the words I want. The Romanovs were rich.
