  1. This is a very different version, isn’t it? No pebbles or breadcrumbs and only the tiniest of allusions to cannibalism. It’s funny how Hansel is the one that goes off into woods to get lost. Very unlike Adam and Eve where Eve is responsible for their doom. Though I see Gretel tries to pin it on the squirrel later on.

  2. They also took out the cruel stepmother. In the version I grew up hearing, their stepmother purposely ditched them in the woods hoping they would die there. Harsh.
